Week 8 College Football (The Wild Wild West)

Week 7 was everything it was expected to be and more. The big games were what we thought they would be. We had a shocker in Athens, Georgia as well. Jalen Hurts led Oklahoma over Texas. Tennessee finally won a game against an SEC team. Clemson ran over Florida State. Wisconsin's defense pitched their fourth shutout of the season. Baylor remained undefeated after escaping Texas Tech with a double overtime win. Notre Dame struggled early but pulled away from USC. Penn State went into Iowas and won by five. In the game of the week LSU won shootout against Florida by 14. The most surprising result of the week comes from Athens, Georgia. Unranked South Carolina defeated 3 Georgia by 3 in double overtime. South Carolina missed a potential game winning FG with 0:40 left. Then in overtime, Georgia threw an interception. South Carolina missed another FG. They would then make a field goal in the second overtime. Then, Georgia attempted a field goal and missed it to end up losing 20-17 in 2OT. Now onto my top six rankings after this week.

College Football Playoff

4 Clemson vs 1 Alabama

3 LSU vs 2 Ohio State

First Two Out

5 Oklahoma

6 Wisconsin

I will not always explain my rankings, but this is explainable. I believe LSU is building the resumé to make the playoff even if they lose a game. They have beaten Texas on the road and now Florida at home. They still get to play Auburn and Alabama. Clemson remains at four because of resumé. Ohio State has been the most dominant team. Alabama remains the king of the college football world. Oklahoma and Wisconsin could go either or at 5 and 6.

Week 8 Picks (all times central)

Clemson vs Louisville 11:00am ABC (Pick: Clemson)

Florida vs South Carolina 11:00am ESPN (Pick: Florida)

LSU vs Mississippi State 2:30 CBS (Pick: LSU)

Oregon vs Washington 2:30 ABC (Pick: Washington)

Kentucky vs Georgia 5:00 ESPN (Pick: Georgia)

Arizona State vs Utah 5:00 PAC12N (Pick: Arizona State)

Texas A&M vs Mississippi 6:30 SECN (Pick: Texas A&M)

Arizona vs USC 8:30 PAC12N (Pick: USC)

What to Watch For/Upset Watch

A very big week in the PAC12. The three games I pick all have an effect on the race to the PAC12 Championship Game. The games involving Arizona State/Utah and Arizona/USC will give us two frontrunners for this game. Can Georgia bounce back at home after a tough home loss. LSU usually gets a tough effort from Mississippi State, can the Bulldogs get ready for the Tigers after a brutal loss at Tennessee. What will South Carolina do after they broke the SEC East wide open. Texas A&M comes into Oxford and both teams are looking for something positive.

Game of the Week

Michigan vs Penn State 6:30 ABC

The Big Ten East could get really interesting beginning with this game. This division has Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Ohio State. They all have to play each other. Penn State seems to be the second best behind Ohio State. Michigan State is a great defensive team. Michigan has been hit or miss this season. Jim Harbaugh may be on the hot seat this season. This would be a big win for him to potentially save his job. This is almost like last week with Florida and LSU. It is a night game in Penn State. That crowd is crazy and intimidating. It may be the second or third best environment for a primetime game. Michigan has been very close to a train wreck result against Army and I do not see the Wolverines being able to keep up with the Nittany Lions. (Pick: Penn State)

Have a magical day and we will SEE YA! real soon.
