Week 1 College Football (CFP Elimination in Arlington???)

You are looking live at week one of college football. This week begins a long four month journey to New Orleans for the national championship game. This will become a weekly piece that will be paired with the NFL weekly picks once it begins. This week college has the spotlight to itself. First, let's look at my preseason college football playoff top six. This will also be posted in here every week as a look at how I see the state of college football. Note: This is for the playoff, not a top six best teams regardless of conference or any other notation.

1 Clemson

2 Alabama

3 Oklahoma

4 Michigan

First Two Out

5 Georgia

6 Ohio State

Now onto the picks for this week. All times are central time zone (USA)

UCLA vs Cincinnati (Thur) 6:00 ESPN (Pick: Cincinnati)

Utah vs BYU (Thur) 9:15 ESPN (Pick: Utah)

Ole Miss vs Memphis 11:00am ABC (Pick: Ole Miss)

So. Carolina vs No. Carolina (Charlotte) 2:30 ESPN (Pick: S.Car)

Northwestern vs Stanford 3:00 FOX (Pick: Stanford)

Boise State vs Florida State (Jacksonville) 6:00 ESPN (Pick: Florida State)

Fresno State vs USC 9:30 ESPN (Pick: USC)

Houston vs Oklahoma (Sunday) 6:30 ABC (Pick: Oklahoma)

Notre Dame vs Louisville (Monday) 7:00 ESPN (Pick: Notre Dame)

Not a whole lot of big time premier matchups, but look for the best games from this list to be Utah-BYU, South Carolina-North Carolina, and Northwestern-Stanford because these games will be pacing games for each team. If they win then they can have great seasons, but a loss could throw their season off-track. The game that could see an upset is Utah-BYU. This is a rivalry game titled "The Holy War." BYU is not supposed to be good this year and a loss for Utah would eliminate them from the playoff picture before conference play begins.

Now, to the game of the week. College Gameday will be there for this one.

Oregon vs Auburn 6:30 ABC

In a rematch of the 2010 BCS National Championship Game. Expect a moderate scoring game in the thirties for each side. The one thing to watch is Bo Nix for Auburn making his first career start as a true freshman. How will he react to the big stage. A loss for Oregon is not as destructive here as Auburn is expected to be a 9+ win team. A loss for Auburn and it could be a lost season.

(Pick: Auburn)

Have a Magical Day and we will SEE YA! real soon
