D23 closed out yesterday and one of the highlights every year is the Disney Parks and Resorts Panel. A lot of big news came out of this panel mostly concerning EPCOT, but there was also some other exciting news. First to cover the other exciting news then we will dive into EPCOT. Marvel Land in Disney's California Adventure and Disneyland Paris will be called "Avengers Campus." This will feature a ride based on the Avengers where Wakanda will be included. This land will open in 2020. Now onto EPCOT. First, the park will undergo the largest re-vamp in Disney Park history. There will be four areas of the new park. World Showcase, World Nature, World Discovery, and World Celebration. These new areas will feature the current EPCOT attractions. One of the biggest announcements for EPCOT is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This is the new roller coaster based on the movies. It will feature a reverse launch to take off. In World Showcase the big news is Remy's Ratatouille Adventure attraction will open next summer 2020. This is based on the 2007 Pixar film Ratatouille. A Beauty and the Beast sing-along is also coming to the France pavilion in 2020. The other big news for EPCOT is Mary Poppins is coming to the United Kingdom pavilion. There is not a lot of details for this except that it was announced. There was not a lot of announcements concerning the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World in 2021. All of the EPCOT renovations will be open in time for the 50th.
My advice for trips in the next 2-3 years would be to wait until 2021 at least. EPCOT is about to be a construction zone. Hollywood Studios is about to be packed. Crowds are already at an all time high in Florida. If you are going next year, I would suggest California and then Florida in 2021 or later. This is DISPN saying Have a Magical Day and SEE YA!
